The second of the two paddles that explore Lake Wakatipu. This is the southern end of the lake, dominated by the Hector Mountains to the east and the Eyre Mountains to the west. Teams will paddle up the eastern shore gathering CP's that will provide the odd navigational challenge at night and ensure they stay close to shore - this cold lake can get very windy and rough at times. It's a longer paddle at 47km with times dependent very much on the wind direction. Once the Remarkables have passed teams will turn into the Frankton Arm for a scenic finish to what will have truly been an exhilarating and wild race.
